Data backup of the configuration should be performed before an update. This data backup helps to you revert to the previous version in the event of problems installing the new version.
During the update, system components are also changed, which may take some time depending on the scope:
-
The PostgreSQL database is automatically updated to a new version. In this process, the previous database directory is automatically backed up beforehand so that the previous version can be reverted to in the event on an error.
Once migration is successfully carried out, the following backup directory can be deleted:
C:\smartWAREData\postgresql_backupV13_<time stamp> -
Batch numbers are now internally saved in a new structure. Conversion of existing batches may take some time when JUMO smartWARE Evaluation is first started.
This change is required, as batch numbers in JUMO variTRON devices are no longer defined in batch rows as from version 10. However, the information will still be available in JUMO smartWARE Evaluation.
Updates can only be performed if the version number is either
-
the same (for repair installations) or
-
higher (for update installations)
than the currently installed version.
The installation program must be started to perform an update to JUMO smartWARE Evaluation in Windows®. The wizard performs the update process. In this process, running instances of JUMO smartWARE Evaluation and Supervision smartWARE are stopped automatically. The installation program detects data from the old installation and uses it. The old software is deinstalled and new software installed. Existing settings and data are automatically adopted.
After the installation, JUMO smartWARE Evaluation must be manually started by the user via Supervision smartWARE.
A software downgrade to an earlier version is not intended and is not recommended.
